At Dr. Owen Bell’s office, we encourage women to participate in their health care. We are here to help women throughout their life cycle to attain and maintain good health. We are a full service Obstetric and Gynecological practice offering the services of our OB/Gyn specialist, Dr. Bell, along with Wendy Thon, Family Nurse Practitioner and Martha Linden, Certified Nurse Midwife. Our caring and supportive staff is available for questions or concerns about your health, whether you are seeking contraception, pregnancy information or menopause consultation. We are here to help when problems arise at any state in your life that requires intervention. Dr. Owen Bell is skilled in the latest surgical techniques and robotics.

Owen Bell, MD, APC

Dr. Bell graduated with honors from the University of Alabama, School of Medicine in 1982. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1986. He has been practicing in Anchorage since 1986. He is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 1988. He was Chair of the Alaska Section of ACOG from 2002-2005. He served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washing from 1997-2006. He actively participates as preceptor for medical students and Family Practice residents from his office to the operating room. He has maintained his private OB/GYN practice since 1989.

Dr. Bell enjoys downhill skiing, biking, hiking, and in his spare time, he tinkers with an old pick-up truck. Dr. Bell is married to Pamela, who is a local Veterinarian, and they have two sons – Joshua and Jason.


Wendy Thon, ANP, BSN, MSN, FNP-C, FAANP

Wendy has been a Family Nurse Practitioner since 1981. She received her BSN from Valparaiso University in Indiana in 1976. As a new nurse, she worked at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital (now Rush University Hospital) in Chicago. After getting her Master’s in Nursing from Arizona State University in 1981, she worked with the National Health Service Corps in medically underserved areas in Ohio for two years. In Alaska, Wendy has worked primarily in Women’s Health through Planned Parenthood of Alaska (1984), Alaska Native Medical Center (1984-85), and Alaska Women’s Health Services (1985-89).Wendy has been active on state and national nurse practitioner boards with the Alaska Nurse Practitioner Association (1984-94), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (1990-94), and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (1994-present). Wendy was certified in colposcopy in 2003.

Wendy has experience being an “older” mom starting in her 40s.She enjoys walking and hiking with her kids and dog, playing racquetball, and quilting.


Martha Linden, CNM

Martha received her Midwifery education from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in 1992 and her Master’s degree in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University in 1993. Prior to graduate school, she received her RN education from UAA, earning her BSN in 1988. She assisted with home births for many years, and transitioned to hospital birth only in 1994. “I love the camaraderie at the hospital; everyone enjoys being a part of the birth process.” She has been working with Dr. Own Bell since 1994. Martha sees women for routine yearly exams, well women care, prenatal care and hospital delivery. She offers contraceptive options including IUD’s and progesterone implants.

Martha loves cross country skiing, walking and zip lining. She and her partner Ron enjoy all activities that include their dog Max.
